Q: When does the season begin?
A: The first game of the season is scheduled for 1st of April 2017. After that, games will be played on Saturdays and pretty much follow the school term. There will be Holiday Skills Courses where you can get some top quality intensive training and have fun with players from all grades. These programmes have been very well received and we encourage you all to get along to them if you can.
Q: When does the season finish?
A: The season will run through to early September with time off over the school holidays. At the end of the season Motueka AFC holds a junior prize-giving at Motueka High School. After that there will be a summer football league which usually runs from October – February with just a couple of weeks off over Christmas and New Year.
Q: What times are the games?
A: Junior football is played on Saturday mornings between 9am & 12 pm depending on the grade. Please ask your child’s coach for exact times and venues or follow the links on this page.

Q: Where are the games and training held?
A: Training is usually at Goodman Reserve next to Motueka Recreation Centre – your coach will confirm the venue and times with you. This is also our home ground. Away games vary from Golden Bay to Nelson – each team will talk about car sharing for away games as needed.
Q: What gear do I need?
A: Junior & youth players need to have their own black shorts and socks as well as shin pads and boots (non-metal studs). Always make sure you bring a big bottle of water! Don’t forget if it’s a cold start to grab something warm as you leave the house, and you can wear a thermal under your shirt when you play if you run cold or play early! Bring nutritious snacks such as bananas and muesli bars. Teams usually arrange half time oranges between themselves.
Q: Who should I call if I have any concerns or questions?
A: The first port of call should be your coach and he/she will usually be able to help or know who at the club can help. If you prefer to contact someone on the Committee directly about any matter at all, please contact motuekafootball@gmail.com.
Q: Can I bring all the family?
A: Please encourage friends and family to come and watch your games. Any of the other grade teams will always be happy to have extra support on the sidelines and see some friendly faces so don’t feel shy if you want to watch their games, or go along and watch the seniors play too.
