Player development options - Nelson
If you are looking for opportunities to get more involved with your football career, you might want to check out the following options to develop your skills and play with other talented and passionate players.
1. FTC - Federation Talent Centre
There are Federation Talent Centres all over NZ. In Nelson, training sessions currently run twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays), over a period of 4 terms.
To be eligible you must be a rep player.
You will be invited to the training sessions at the start of the year and you will be assessed during the first 4 weeks (8 training sessions) - after this trial period you will be informed if you are accepted or not. Once you are in, you need to agree to certain rules and conditions regarding attendance, attitude, commitment. There is also an annual fee which includes training sessions and participation in FTC tournaments. Additional costs arise for the player's FTC kit.
Talented players might be scouted for NTC (National Talent Centre) and/or by other Academies.
2. P.I.F.A. - Paul Ifill Football Academy
Paul Ifill, former Phoenix player, recently opened P.I.F.A. in Nelson to offer young players high quality coaching and opportunities to show their talent beyond Nelson. Training sessions currently are once a week. Please register here if you are interested in trialling.
